The Good Earth Mini Research Project

The Good Earth Mini Research Paper:

Mrs. Brown, English 9 

Over the next few weeks, you will complete a research assignment on an aspect of Chinese culture that you find evident in Pearl S. Buck’s The Good Earth.  You will find THREE outside sources that detail the aspect of Chinese culture.  Next, you will show how this aspect is important to the novel and the role that it plays in contemporary China.

You will need the following:

1.     Note cards (3 x 5, lined) for summarizing, paraphrasing, and direct quotes.

2.     At least FOUR sources (one being the novel)

3.     At least THREE quotes from the novel that show the relevance of the topic in The Good Earth

4.     An outline

5.     A works cited page

6.     Proper MLA format throughout your paper (see the Owl at Purdue online for assistance with this)

7.     At least TWO FULL pages, typed
